TRACER CHECKED THE cameras again. Something was off. He could feel it deep in his gut. Perez and Vitelli had already left with two of his own men and the weapons. On their way to another new location. Juan, Diego, himself, and Chloe were about to follow after packing up the medical supplies.

"Get the car ready,” Tracer said to Juan. Juan did as he was asked and Tracer moved to the bottom of the stairs, keeping an eye on the camera feed on his phone.

“Diego, bring Chloe down, we’re ready to-—”

The explosion ripped the back door of the house off its hinges. Chloe screamed and he took the stairs two at a time as the uninvited guests swarmed the downstairs. Fuck, it had to be Dawson.

In the bedroom, Diego had Chloe by the arm.

“What the fuck is going on?” Diego asked.

“My guess is FBI, here for her,” Tracer said. He needed to play this carefully and make sure Chloe got out of it alive.

“So what do we do?”

“First. Don’t kill her. She’s our leverage. Got it?”

Diego nodded.

The bedroom door burst open. Dawson stood there, gun raised and aimed at Tracer’s head. Tyler Mason was next to him, gun aimed at Diego. Diego pulled Chloe in front of him, putting the barrel of his gun at her temple.

“Don’t do it,” Dawson said. “Nobody has to die here. Hand her over.”

“No.” Diego spat.

“Tell your man to stand down,” Dawson said, looking Tracer in the eye.

“You let us walk out of here and you can have-—”

Tracer didn’t finish. The lights went out, all of them plunged into darkness. Two shots rang out amid a piercing scream.
